Start With Clarity, Not a Sales Pitch

Your First Visit to
Smiles by Mario Montoya

Your first visit should leave you with a clearer picture of your mouth, not a treatment list you are expected to decode later.

Not every new patient follows the same first-visit pathway. Routine patients receive the records and evaluation appropriate to their needs. Patients considering a Smile Makeover or Full-Mouth Rehabilitation follow a separate two-hour Comprehensive Exam pathway designed for more involved planning.

The $500 Comprehensive Exam is not the standard first visit for every new patient. It is the dedicated diagnostic and planning visit for Smile Makeover and Full-Mouth Rehabilitation cases, and the $500 is credited 100% toward an accepted treatment plan in either category. The purpose is to help you understand what is happening, how the pieces fit together, and what the next step would be if you choose to move forward.

What to Bring With You

Insurance information only if you want documentation for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Recent records can be useful, but they do not automatically replace the imaging needed for your current evaluation. We will let you know if additional records are necessary.

Your Medical History Helps Us Plan Dental Care Safely

Your medical history affects how we plan dental care. Please tell us about current health conditions, allergies, medications, and any significant changes since your last dental visit.

This is particularly important if you have: diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves or joints, a history of rheumatic fever, heart medications, daily aspirin use, or anticoagulant or blood-thinning medication. Complete information helps us identify safety considerations before treatment begins.

Time to Understand the Problem Before Treatment Starts

Our office is located at 10 Glenlake Parkway NE, South Tower, Suite 140 in Sandy Springs. Private treatment spaces overlook a lake and tree-filled surroundings, and free patient parking is available.

The lake view is a pleasant detail. The more important difference is the pace of the conversation. Major treatment decisions deserve enough time for questions, explanation, and a clear sense of what happens next.

Understand Insurance and Financing Before You Commit

Smiles by Mario Montoya is a fee-for-service, out-of-network practice and does not accept dental insurance directly. If you want to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement, we can provide itemized superbills and supporting clinical documentation for you to submit to your carrier.

If treatment is recommended, estimated fees and available payment or financing options are reviewed before care begins so the financial part of the decision does not become a surprise after the clinical plan is underway.

Questions Before Your First Appointment

Can I send X-rays from another dentist?

Yes. Recent imaging may be useful if it is current and shows what our dentists need to evaluate. Additional X-rays may still be recommended for your present treatment needs.

Some lower-complexity care may be possible the same day when it is clinically appropriate and the schedule allows. Complex cosmetic, implant, or full-mouth cases require more planning before treatment begins.

Yes. We want to understand both. Health and structural concerns may need to be addressed first, but the larger cosmetic goal can still guide how the treatment sequence is designed.

Yes. Visits are scheduled so we can reserve enough time and the right clinical resources for your evaluation.

Leave the First Visit Knowing What Comes Next

Whether you need routine care or are considering a major reconstruction, the first visit should make the decisions smaller and clearer. You should leave knowing what is urgent, what is elective, what can be staged, what the likely next step is, and which questions still need answers before you agree to treatment. An evaluation is a place to understand the plan, not a commitment to accept it.
