The advantage of a coordinated team is that the bite, surgery, materials, provisional restorations, and final result can be considered together when a case crosses more than one discipline.
Straightforward needs may involve one doctor and one treatment path. More complex cases can move from one stage to the next with the same records and overall goals, so you are not left carrying the plan between separate offices.
If you are scheduling care in Atlanta, your examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and procedures are handled by the U.S.-licensed practitioners at the Sandy Springs office.
The Atlanta clinical team

Founder & Global Aesthetic Director
Dr. Mario Montoya founded Smiles by Mario Montoya in Colombia in 2019 around a clear idea: design the smile around the person, not around a standard version of perfection. His work emphasized natural proportions, facial balance, and ceramic restorations meant to look believable rather than conspicuous.
That philosophy, built on more than 26 years of clinical expertise, became the foundation for the Sandy Springs practice. Dr. Montoya's role in the United States is focused on the brand's aesthetic direction and the principles that guide smile design here.
Clinical care in Georgia is performed exclusively by the Atlanta practice's U.S.-licensed dental team.

Lead Prosthodontist & Full-Mouth Restoration
Dr. Carolina Herrera leads the most complex prosthodontic and full-mouth cases at the Atlanta practice. Her focus includes advanced restorative dentistry, severe tooth wear, bite collapse, occlusal reconstruction, and cases in which many teeth must be considered together rather than treated one at a time.
Prosthodontic training is especially valuable when treatment changes the height, shape, or relationship of the teeth across an entire arch. Dr. Herrera evaluates how restorations need to function together, how the bite should be supported, and how ceramic design can complement the patient's features without sacrificing strength or stability.
She also works closely with the digital laboratory on extensive e.max and zirconia cases. Provisional phases give us time to evaluate comfort, function, speech, and appearance before final restorations are completed.

General Dentist
Dr. César Cáceres brings three decades of dental experience to the Atlanta team, with a clinical focus that includes implant dentistry, oral surgery, grafting, and the surgical steps that often make restorative treatment possible.
Originally from Colombia, Dr. Cáceres earned his first dental degree at the Colombian School of Dentistry. After moving to the United States in 2005, he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University and continued with advanced post-doctoral training. His education includes the AAID/GHSU Maxi-Course in Implant Dentistry, a Conscious Sedation Residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and additional training in Digital Smile Design, cosmetic dentistry, and full-mouth rehabilitation.
Dr. Cáceres' work in Sandy Springs includes guided titanium implant placement, bone grafting, sinus lifts, platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), and surgical extractions. He works closely with the restorative side of the practice so surgical decisions support the teeth and restorations that will follow.
Outside dentistry, Dr. Cáceres enjoys traveling with his wife, Maffe, attending live music, reading, and collecting Beatles memorabilia.
Restorative & General Dentist
Dr. Ricardo Giovanni Tomei brings more than 23 years of experience to everyday restorative and general dental care at the Atlanta practice. His work centers on preserving and rebuilding teeth with close attention to function, bite relationships, and natural-looking restorative results.
Dr. Tomei earned his dental degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas in 2002 and later completed a Prosthodontics Preceptorship at the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry. He is licensed in Georgia and Texas and has experience both as a clinician and former private practice owner.
His current role at Smiles by Mario Montoya Atlanta includes tooth-colored composite restorations, single crowns, routine general dentistry, and restorative care intended to help patients maintain a stable, comfortable bite.
Away from the office, Dr. Tomei enjoys family time, mountain biking, overlanding, travel, and exploring the outdoors.
A filling may be a one-visit problem. Missing teeth, failing restorations, bone loss, severe wear, or a changing bite can involve several decisions that affect one another. Before treatment starts, you should understand how those pieces fit together.
That is where collaboration matters. Surgery can be planned around the restoration that will follow. Restorative treatment can account for the bite. Cosmetic decisions can respect the health and structure underneath them.
